What the stones mean

What the stones mean

We use only a handful of stones, chosen for how they look against gold and silver and how well they stand up to daily wear. Here is what each one is, and the meanings people have given them for centuries.

Pearls

Pearls have long been linked with calm and new beginnings, which is why they are a classic wedding gift. Ours are cultured freshwater pearls; baroque pearls are the irregular ones, each its own shape. Pearls are soft, so put them on last and wipe them after wearing.

Prasiolite

Also called green amethyst, prasiolite is a pale, leafy green quartz associated with growth and fresh starts. It is hard enough for rings and earrings worn every day.

White and blue topaz

Topaz was traditionally given for friendship and strength. White topaz brings sparkle to our pavé pieces at a gentle price; blue topaz adds a cool note to the Gemstone Station Necklace.

Rose quartz

The soft pink stone of affection and kindness, often chosen as a gift between friends.

Lab-grown diamonds

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, with the same hardness and fire as a mined one. Diamonds stand for lasting love, and at a hardness of 10 they are the stone to choose for a ring you will never take off.

Whatever the meaning, the best stone is the one you will reach for every morning.
