Jewelry care
Every Vitrine piece is made to be worn every day. A little care keeps the polish bright and the gold vermeil looking new for years.
Every day
- Put jewelry on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray.
- Take it off for swimming, the sauna, cleaning products and the gym.
- Wipe each piece with the soft outer layer of our polishing cloth after wearing it.
Gold vermeil
Our vermeil is a thick 2.5 micron layer of recycled 14k gold over recycled sterling silver. Clean it with lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap, rinse, and pat dry. Do not use silver dip or abrasive polish, which can wear the gold layer.
Sterling silver
Silver darkens with air and moisture; this is natural. The polishing cloth brings back the shine in a minute. Store silver in its pouch to slow tarnish.
Pearls
Pearls are soft and porous. Wipe them with a damp cloth after wearing and let them dry flat. Keep them away from perfume and store them apart from other pieces so they do not scratch.
Lab-grown diamonds and gemstones
Soak in warm soapy water for a few minutes and brush gently behind the stone with a soft toothbrush. Check settings once a year; we do it for free.
Storage and travel
Store each piece in its own pouch or compartment and fasten chains before you put them away, so they do not tangle. Our Travel Jewelry Case has ring rolls, earring rows and chain hooks.
Re-plating
After years of daily wear, vermeil can soften at the edges. Send it back and we will clean, polish and re-plate it for a flat fee of $35.
